Here, you learn how to see God in every moment of the day.
A college that was passionately faithful: Even in high school that was the type of school I wanted to attend. And as soon as I visited Franciscan University, I knew I’d found what I wanted.
Here, you learn how to see God in every moment of the day. He’s alive in everything. The classes, the beauty of the campus, the smiles of people you see walking past. I’ve even come to see him in my running. I’ve learned how to offer up to him the suffering of a long run and come to understand the importance of running for his glory, not my own.
What else do I love about Franciscan? The professors. They do a great job helping us see the world as it is. They also teach us how to integrate our faith into everything we do—how to live what we believe. Plus, they’re always there when you have a question or need help.
When I leave here, I hope to either go to graduate school or start teaching high school English right away. I’ve always loved English literature, and here I’ve realized just how much you can do with it. You can teach about morality and beauty and truth, and lead people to a deeper understanding of the world, all through reading, discussing, and analyzing great books.
I’ve already learned so much about myself at Franciscan. Probably the most important thing is to get out of myself and focus on others more. That comes from becoming more confident and finally learning to see myself as a child of God.
