Guidelines
An internship is generally available to a student who has achieved junior status and a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5. Some majors may have specific requirements.
Internships may be voluntary or mandatory. Voluntary internships are arranged through the Career Services office. Mandatory internships are arranged through the department applicable.
An internship may be paid or unpaid. Compensation is at the discretion of the company/agency.
A student may apply for one (1) academic credit for every fifty (50) hours of internship work completed.
A maximum of six (6) academic credits for internships may be counted toward degree requirements with the approval of the respective advisor and the Dean.
The duration of an internship is normally one semester or summer. Internships will be limited to a maximum of 15 hours per week and 3 credit hours per semester for a full-time student taking at least 12 credit hours. Summer internships are usually 40 hours/week when the student is not taking courses.
The internship application must be completed and approved by the University before the internship commences.
The University accepts no liability for injury and/or damages occurring while performing the internship, or traveling to and from the site.
