    Caring for the Body, Mind, and Soul.

    One Person at a Time.

    At Franciscan University, we view the field of nursing as a helping ministry, putting faith to work with our hands. That's why for over two decades, we've committed ourselves to excellence in nursing education through our bachelor's of nursing program. In 1999 we took that commitment one step further, launching our Master of Science in Nursing Program.

    The MSN Program, accredited by the NLNAC, is designed to facilitate your educational preparation for advanced nursing roles. The program will provide you with a strong foundation in theory, research, and experiential learning, enabling you to work as a Family Nurse Practitioner or Education Specialist.

    Both programs share the same basic set of objectives. Foremost among these are helping you learn to:

    • Evaluate the determinants of both illness and health, including environmental, spiritual, economic, biological, and genetic factors of individuals, families, and groups;
    • Develop a plan for providing affordable, accessible, holistic assessment and care to clients from various races, ages, and degrees of health and illness;
    • Utilize advanced clinical skills in health promotion, disease prevention, and illness in order to meet the healthcare needs of racially and culturally diverse populations;
    • Coordinate, manage, and conduct education and outcome-oriented nursing research.
