STEUBENVILLE, OH— A few short weeks before his beatification before over one million people in Vatican Square, the theological accomplishments of the late Pope John Paul II will be the subject of a special presentation given at Franciscan University of Steubenville.

Dr. John Grabowski ’85, professor of moral theology at Catholic University of America, will present a lecture titled “The Luminous Excess of the Person: Assessing the Impact of Venerable John Paul II on American Catholic Moral Theology.” He will deliver the lecture on Tuesday, March 22, at 7:30 p.m. in the Seminar Room of the St. Joseph Center. Grabowski's talk, sponsored by the Franciscan University Theology Department, is free and open to the public.

Grabowski, who holds a bachelor's degree in theology from Franciscan University of Steubenville, is the author of Sex and Virtue: An Introduction to Sexual Ethics. He also wrote the foreword to the 1997 English edition of Pope John Paul II’s Theology of the Body. He and his wife, Claire, were appointed to the Pontifical Council for the Family by Pope Benedict XVI in the fall of 2009.
