Bonacchi to Address European Debt Crisis

EurozoneSTEUBENVILLE, OHIO—International finance expert Bruno Bonacchi will speak on "Understanding the European Debt Crisis" at Franciscan University of Steubenville on Monday, March 5, at 7:30 p.m. in the Tony and Nina Gentile Gallery of the J.C. Williams Center. The talk is free and open to the public.

Bonacchi, former senior vice president and managing director of Global Securities Services Operations for Mellon Financial Corporation, will address the impact of the European debt crisis on the world economy, particularly in the United States.

Bonacchi says he will examine, “the origins of the Eurozone and structural issues embedded in its creation, the ‘social contract’ in postwar Europe and the impact of demographics on that social contract," and the Eurozone's impact on the European banking system and global financial system.

Bonacchi previously served as head of Corporate Strategy and Development at Mellon Corporation, an investment services company. Bonacchi led a corporate-wide effort leading to $700 million in profit improvement from revenue enhancement and productivity initiatives.

Bonacchi's other positions at Mellon Coropration include head of Corporate Trust Operations and Investment Management Groups and chief financial officer of Mellon Information Services. He was also responsible for global cash management and wholesale banking operations.
