Baron-main-logoSTEUBENVILLE, Ohio – Franciscan University of Steubenville is home to the fastest collegiate cross-country runner in the state of Ohio. Senior stand-out Bill Jones won the All-Ohio Championships with a time of 24:24 in a meet that included runners from Division I, II and III…The rugby team bounced back from its loss to Grove City College in the Rugby Ruckus with a dominating 54-21 victory on the road at Robert Morris. David Fay scored three tries for the Barons and was named Man of the Match…The women’s tennis team continued it’s dominance in the AMCC as they had two conference wins against Penn State-Behrend (7-2) and Mt. Aloysius (6-3) to clinch an undefeated conference season and the top seed in the AMCC Championship Tournament…It was another frustrating and winless week for the Lady Barons women’s soccer team as they tied conference opponent Univ. of Pittsburgh at Greensburg 1-1, lost to Washington & Jefferson 2-0, and then lost a tight game to Medaille College, 2-1…The men’s soccer team continued to struggle this week as they dropped three games to remain winless on the season at 0-10.

Coming up: 

There is a lot of non-conference action on the schedule for many teams this week, with women’s tennis having matches on Tuesday at home against Bethany College (W. Va.) and Thursday at Westminster (Pa.) and men’s soccer traveling for a night game against Bethany on Wednesday. The volleyball team has an away match Tuesday at Carlow University, as they prep for their Dig Pink event this Saturday at 2:00 p.m. Dig Pink is part of Homecoming weekend as Saturday is packed with athletic events. Rugby is home against Fairmont State at 1 p.m., women’s and men’s soccer are both home hosting conference opponent Hilbert College at 1 and 3 p.m., and women’s tennis hosts non-conference opponent John Carroll at 2 p.m.
