STEUBENVILLE, OH—The Franciscan Film Society will present Michel Hazanavicius’ film The Artist on February 22 at 7:00 p.m. in Anathan Theatre at Franciscan University of Steubenville. The event is free and open to the public.

The Artist, which won the Academy Award for 2012 Best Picture, traces the journey of silent movie superstar George Valentin at the end of the silent movie era in Hollywood. As his career teeters on the brink of oblivion, his destiny becomes intertwined with that of Peppy Miller, an enthusiastic young movie extra. Shot in black-and-white, this silent film exemplifies the movie form that it champions.

A panel discussion with Franciscan University professors will follow the film. The film is rated A-III (adults) by the Catholic News Service for mature content, including attempted suicide.
