  • Holy See Official to Speak on Mary in the Modern World

Monsignor Kolfhaus teaches that Mary is still very relevant in modern culture

    October 15, 2013

STEUBENVILLE, OH— Monsignor Florian Kolfhaus will speak at Franciscan University of Steubenville on “Mary’s Role in the Redemption and the Contemporary Church” on Thursday, October 24. His talk will take place at 7:30 p.m. in the Tony and Nina Gentile Gallery in the J.C. Williams Center.

Monsignor Kolfhaus, a member of the Vatican Secretariat of State, is also a member of the Pontifical Marian Academy. He is the author of several books, including Totus Tuus, Maria: Twelve Days of Preparation for the Consecration to Our Lady, which examines how to deepen one’s spiritual life according to the texts of St. Louis Marie Grignon de Montfort.

Monsignor Kolfhaus’s talk will address how the role of Mary in the Redemption is viewed by some as a “pre-Vatican” emphasis in Mariology. He will discuss how the example of the suffering Virgin and Mother holds important messages for the contemporary Church, especially under the helm of the extraordinarily Marian Pope Francis.

The event is sponsored by the Franciscan University Theology Department and is free and open to the public.
