May 28, 2013 STEUBENVILLE, OH—The evening sessions of the following Adult Summer Conferences to be held this summer at Franciscan University of Steubenville are free and open to the public:Catholic Charismatic Conference: Brave and Steadfast,Saturday, June 8, 7:00-10:00 p.m. Praise and worship will be followed by a Holy Hour led by Father Dave Pivonka, TOR, a nationally known conference speaker and pilgrimage leader. After the Holy Hour, Bob Canton will host a Healing Service. Canton is the national coordinator of the Alliance of Filipino Catholic Charismatic Prayer Communities and has conducted retreats and seminars in North America, Europe, Asia, Australia, and Africa.Applied Biblical Studies Conference: Faith Works: The Book of James, Thursday, July 25, 7:00-10:00 p.m. Praise and worship will be followed by the talk, “The Tongue Is a Fire: Sins of the Tongue in James 3,” delivered by Dr. Brant Pitre. A professor of Sacred Scripture at Notre Dame Seminary in New Orleans, Pitre speaks regularly across the United States and has produced dozens of Bible studies. After the talk, Father Mitch Pacwa, SJ, best-selling author and EWTN host, will lead a Holy Hour.St. John Bosco Conference: Blessed by the Father, Saturday, July 20, 7:00-10:00 p.m. Bishop Richard Joseph Malone of the Diocese of Buffalo will speak on “I Believe in God the Father: The Creed’s Compass Point for Theology, Worship, Christian Life, and Catechesis.” Bishop Malone has worked on both high school and college campuses and has served as the episcopal advisor to the National Conference for Catechetical Leadership. A Holy Hour will follow his talk.Defending the Faith Conference: Faith Transforming Culture, Saturday July 27, 7:00-10:00 p.m. Praise and worship will be followed by a talk by Dr. Scott Hahn on “Consuming the Word: Liturgical Worship as Spiritual Warfare.” The Father Michael Scanlan, TOR, Chair in Biblical Theology and the New Evangelization at Franciscan University, Hahn is the author or editor of over 40 books and has delivered thousands of talks and academic lectures.
