A letter from Father Sean
The Lord give you peace.
I invite you to join me on this extraordinary pilgrimage to Rome on the joyous occasion of the canonization of Blessed John Paul II and Blessed John XXIII on Divine Mercy Sunday, April 27, 2014.
For us as Catholics, the naming of a saint is about something intimately related to all that we believe. It's a chance to celebrate holiness embodied in the life of another human being. On this pilgrimage we will be celebrating the holiness of two popes!
In Rome, we will participate in daily Mass, prayer, and devotions, especially the Chaplet of Divine Mercy. We also plan to attend an audience with our Holy Father, Pope Francis. This journey will also be enriched with a lecture by papal author George Weigel, who personally interviewed Pope John Paul II. TV news analyst and author, Father Jonathan Morris, who studied at Franciscan University, will also speak to our group.
This pilgrimage is open to all who would like to join Franciscan University. May this time of prayer and ecclesial communion and celebration renew us and strengthen our commitment to strive for holiness in our own lives. I hope you will prayerfully consider traveling with us!
In Christ and St. Francis,
Father Sean Sheridan, TOR
President, Franciscan University of Steubenville
