Young men want to say, "Yes!"
You can make it possible.
Prayers and donations support tomorrow's priests
In response to Pope John Paul II's call to form and educate future priests, Franciscan University of Steubenville began a Pre-Theologate program in 1985. Now called the Priestly Discernment Program, we have been preparing men both academically and spiritually to enter seminary or religious life for over 25 years.
Faithfully adhering to the Gospel of Jesus Christ and the teachings of the Catholic Church, the Priestly Discernment Program offers men the opportunity to nurture their vocation. With a commitment to community life and prayer, the men participate in the sacramental life of the Church, the celebration of the Liturgy of the Hours, and spiritual direction. Because the Program is not a major in itself, the men fulfill these requirements while pursuing a bachelor's degree in their chosen field.
The Blessed Junipero Serra Fund
The Blessed Junipero Serra Fund allows contributors to invest in the future of the priesthood through ongoing spiritual and financial support for Franciscan University's Priestly Discernment Program students.
Benefactors are asked to pray for the students and directors of the program. They are also invited to financially support the Blessed Junipero Serra Fund for our students. Without your assistance, some students seeking to pursue a priestly vocation may be unable to participate in the program.
Franciscan University invites you to help young men say yes to Christ's call to serve the Church as priest. As former University President and current Chancellor, Father Michael Scanlan, TOR, wrote in Franciscan University's Mission Statement, "if Catholic universities do not produce the future priests, brothers and sisters...who will?"
Your contribution is tax-deductible, and an acknowledgement of your gift will be sent promptly by return mail.
If you want to help the next generation of priests respond generously to their vocation, please prayerfully consider supporting the Priestly Discernment Program. Download the form, print, and fill it out, then mail it to:
