This ancient question has arisen anew in the contemporary atheism debate. Some say that morality can hold its ground on a naturalistic basis and without any transcendent foundation. On the other side are those who claim that morality is not intelligible without being placed in some theistic framework. Even Christian philosophers do not always agree among themselves about how moral knowledge is grounded in religious knowledge, nor even about how morality itself is grounded in God. The conference aims at sorting out these issues.
