This ancient question has arisen anew in the contemporary atheism debate. Some say that morality can hold its ground on a naturalistic basis and without any transcendent foundation. On the other side are those who claim that morality is not intelligible without being placed in some theistic framework. Even Christian philosophers do not always agree among themselves about how moral knowledge is grounded in religious knowledge, nor even about how morality itself is grounded in God.  The conference aims at sorting out these issues.

    Call for Abstracts

Those wishing to present a paper (25 minutes reading time) should submit a 300-word abstract by February 25, 2013 to Dr. John Crosby at JCrosby@franciscan.edu. Papers on any aspect of the issue will be considered, including papers defending a naturalistic account of morality.  Graduate students are welcome to submit proposals. The registration fee will be remitted for those whose papers are chosen for presentation.
