Student Voicemail Instructions - [PDF version]
THE BASICS

DESCRIPTION

Determine Your Phone Number
|
You need to know your phone number prior to setting up voice mail. Your Residence Director should have access to that information.
|
Mailbox
|
The student with the primary number on the phone (button 12) accesses voice mail by pressing the Mailbox button (button 1) at the top left of the phone.

To setup voice mail the user pushes the Mailbox button. The user will be prompted to enter a password. The default password is 1111. After entering the password the user will be requested to change the password. (Minimum length is 4 digits). You will also be prompted to Record Your Name.

MBLN XXXX
|
The student(s) with the secondary number on bottom right (buttons 10 or 11) use the MBLN button on the top right (button 6 or 7).

To setup voice mail the user pushes the MBLN button. The user will be prompted to enter a password. The default password is 1111. After entering the password the user will be requested to change the password. (Minimum length is 4 digits). You will also be prompted to Record Your Name. (Note: the handset needs to be in the cradle of the phone before you press the MBLN button, if not you will get a “Mailbox Not Possible” message. Once logged in you can pick up the handset and listen to your messages.

Voice Mail Light
|
A Light will appear next to the Mailbox button or MBLN button if voice mail is present. When you press the Mailbox button or MBLN button the display will show “Call Server”, at this point the user pushes the Check Mark key at the bottom of the phone. The phone will dial into Xpressions Voice Mail server and you will be prompted to enter a password.

Listen to messages
|
Once logged in choose option 3 to listen to your messages.

Save Messages
|
to save a voice mail after listening to it press 4
to save a voice mail while listening to it press * 4
|
Delete Messages
|
to delete a voice mail after listening to it press 6
to delete a voice mail while listening to it press * 6
|
Alternate access to Voice Mail
|
You can access voice mail from any phone on campus by dialing 5180, and then enter your 4 digit extension followed by your password. You can also access voice mail from off campus or cell phone by dialing 740 284 5180

Handset and Speakerphone volume can be adjusted only while they are being used.
- To increase volume: Press the (+) key
- To lower volume: Press the (-) key
To save adjustments, press the (P) checkmark

CHANGING
RINGER VOLUME

While your phone is idle (handset in its cradle):
Ringer Volume
- Press (+) or (-) button
- Press the (P) checkmark to select Ringer Volume?
- Press the (+) and/or (-) buttons to adjust volume level.
- Press the (P) checkmark to store the volume.

CHANGING
RINGER PITCH

While your phone is idle (handset in its cradle):
Ringer Pitch
- Press (+) or (-) button
- Scroll to Ringer Pitch? and select it (P) checkmark
- Press the (+) and/or (-) buttons to hear different patterns.
- Press the (P) checkmark to store the new pattern.

TYPES OF RINGS

One Ring:.............. Internal Call
Two Rings:.................. External Call
|
VISUAL SIGNALS
|
Blink:..................... Incoming call
Flutter:.......................... Call is Holding
|
SPEAKERPHONE
|
Speakerphone works one way, you may listen to it but cannot talk into it. Students accessing voice mail from the right side of the phone (MBLN xxxx) use the speaker phone until they are logged in.

MUTE
|
Press MUTE button to activate mute function. When activated a red light appears beside the button. The person on the call cannot hear you; however, you can still hear the caller.
