STEUBENVILLE, OH—Ohio Valley residents are welcome to join the Franciscan University Fine Arts Society at a number of plays and concerts in Pittsburgh as part of their Fine Arts Series this Spring. The society offers affordable tickets to these events, as well as a limited amount of inexpensive transportation.
The trips to Pittsburgh begin on Sunday, February 10, with a performance by the Pittsburgh Symphony at Heinz Hall. Selections for the concert include Beethoven’s 7th Symphony and Vivaldi’s famous The Four Seasons. The performance is at 8:00 p.m. and tickets are $17. The deadline for purchasing tickets is February 1.
On Saturday, March 15, at 8:00 p.m., the society will attend St. Paddy’s Delight at Synod Hall, a concert by Chatham Baroque featuring a lively set of traditional and classical Celtic melodies. Tickets for the concert are $22 and the deadline for purchasing tickets is March 7.
The Pittsburgh Opera’s production of Aida on Sunday, April 6, will be the next event for the Fine Arts Society. The opera is at 2:00 p.m. and the price of tickets is to be announced.
The Fine Arts Society has also planned tours of two notable locations in the Pittsburgh area, the Carnegie Museum of Art and Frank Lloyd Wright’s Fallingwater. The Carnegie Museum of Art tour (led by Franciscan University Professor Joseph Williams) is on Saturday, April 12, at 11:00 a.m. Tickets are $10 and the deadline for buying tickets is March 28. The tour of Falling Water is on Saturday, April 19. Tickets are $16 and the deadline for buying tickets is April 11.
Limited transportation to each of these events is provided by the Fine Arts Society for $5. The bus or minivan leaves Franciscan University 90 minutes before each performance.
