STEUBENVILLE—Catholic singer-songwriter Matt Maher and his band will headline a powerful night of music, worship, and teaching on Friday, April 18, at 7:00 p.m. in Finnegan Fieldhouse at Franciscan University of Steubenville.
Maher is a nationally acclaimed musician who has released three full-length albums. His songs have been recorded by award-winning Christian artists such as Kathy Troccoli and Chris Tomlin. Maher’s song, “On the Third Day,” was recorded by Michael Olsen, landing number two on the Christian inspirational charts.
At World Youth Day in Toronto, Maher’s “Litany of the Saints” was sung at the official papal evening prayer, with the Holy Father singing along in lyrical prayer with 700,000 young pilgrims from around the world. Matt is slated to lead worship at the next World Youth Day in Sydney, Australia.
Joining Maher for the Worship Tour will be worship leader and songwriter Kelly Pease and Catholic musician-youth minister Josh Blakesely. National speaker Paul George, the co-founder of Adore ministries, will proclaim a powerful Gospel message through stories and humor.
The concert at Franciscan University is the final stop in a nationwide tour that started in Georgia in April 2007.
Sponsors for the concert include Catholic Relief Services and spiritandsong.com. The on-campus sponsor for this event is Residence Life/Student Life.
Tickets are $10 until April 17 and can be purchased at the door the day of the concert for $15. Tickets can be purchased by e-mailing Steven Schumaker at amdgsteve@gmail.com or calling 518-265-5882.
