ASSESSMENT SYSTEMS PROVIDING INFORMATION for RENEWAL and EFFECTIVENESS
Vision of ASPIRE at Franciscan University
ASPIRE efforts are aimed at institutional quality assurance and continual improvement of processes at Franciscan University of Steubenville in light of, and for the fulfillment of, the FUS Mission. Through faculty self-reflection, academic inquiry, research on teaching and learning, assessment of student performance, and indirect measures from our constituencies, ASPIRE seeks to describe the reality of institutional effectiveness at FUS. This information and evidence will inform decision making and further the academic, instructional, and learning enterprises of FUS. ASPIRE is a task and responsibility shared by all at FUS, though the accountability for ASPIRE efforts has been delegated to the Assessment Office.
Mission of ASPIRE at Franciscan University
The Assessment Office at Franciscan University of Steubenville has as its mission fostering and documenting the Institutional Quality Assurance and Continual Improvement of Processes at Franciscan University. These efforts are to be FUS mission centered and foster continual growth and development in the persons who are our students, faculty, and staff.
- Cultivate mission centered best assessment practices for student learning at FUS;
- Communicate the requests, recommendations, and requirements of the various accreditation bodies for FUS programs and processes;
- Champion and monitor implementation of the FUS Four Phase Assessment Process;
- Coach adjunct and full-time faculty in teaching and learning effectiveness well as assessment efforts;
- Collect and analyze qualitative and quantitative data and evidence through multiple methods and over time for planning and decision making effectiveness;
- Cultivate an assessment culture consistent with the FUS mission and renewing of our mission commitments;
- Continuously engage and respect the individual faculty persons, departments and the array of disciplines and programs in their particular roles, purposes, and aims;
- Collaborate with faculty individually and collectively, through departments and committees, to create a center for teaching, learning and leadership at FUS.
