STEUBENVILLE, OH— The only two teams in action this were the men’s and women’s basketball teams, who each traveled to La Roche College on Wednesday night and hosted the Medaille College Mavericks on Saturday. Both teams fell at the hands of the La Roche College Redhawks on Wednesday. Lacey Huck had a double-double with 24 points and 13 rebounds in the women’s loss. The men had solid bench production against the Redhawks, as Joe Thomas and Joe Spears led the team offensively with 13 and 11 points, respectively.
Saturday, the women held a three-point lead going into halftime of their final game of the season, but fell by double-digits to the Lady Mavericks. Three players separately scored 14 points for the Lady Barons in the 60-46 loss: sophomores Huck and Helen Raines, as well as junior Hannah Flanagan.
The men honored their lone senior Frank Murray, who tore his ACL in the first game of his final season for Franciscan this year, with a Senior Day on Saturday. Murray suited up for the first time since his injury, started the game, got the ball off the tip-off, and then was substituted out of the game to a standing ovation. Murray was then subbed into the game in the final minutes so he was able to score his final points as a member of the Barons, and walked off the court after banking in a lay-up to yet another standing ovation.
The Barons lost the game, 83-62.
