Student Academic Services

Academic Counseling

Students can receive academic counseling services to assist them in identifying their strengths and weaknesses.  Counselors work with students to develop a plan to ensure success.  Through regular appointments students learn to evaluate their progress and identify problem areas.  Strategies for success are taught and progress is monitored.
If academic problems occur, we are available to assist you in the following areas:

  • Transition issues
  • Identifying and using your preferred learning style
  • Academic goal setting
  • Ways to reduce stress
  • Time management
  • Organization skills
  • Identifying life issues that impede academic success
  • Refer students to other campus resources

Other times to seek academic counselor:

  • You have problems with a particular course
  • Your study habits are not producing positive results
  • You failed your first test in a course

All students on admission probation or academic probations are expected to participate in academic counseling.  They should meet with a counselor once a week to monitor progress.

You can access academic counseling by coming by Egan 105 and scheduling an appointment with one of our staff.  You may also call to schedule an appointment.
Contact Rose Kline at (740) 284-5358, or Tina Maroni at (740) 284-5263 or our Academic Counseling Intern at (740) 284-6304.

NOTE: Academic counseling is not a substitution for academic advising.
