Endowed Catechetics and Business Ethics Chairs: $3 Million
In order to hire and retain faithful and accomplished faculty who can equip our students to become salt and light in their chosen fields, we are seeking to endow two permanent academic chairs: one in catechetics and one in business ethics.
Catechetics Chair: With over 250 undergraduate students and 40 graduate students, the Catechetics Program is one of the largest and fastest growing at Franciscan University. These students will go on to serve the Church as directors of youth ministry, religious education, and RCIA, not to mention as priests and religious.
Already hundreds of our catechetics graduates are working in parishes and schools around the country, changing the way people know and love their faith and renewing Catholic education in America. Their accomplishments are not going unrecognized, which is why the demand for graduates from our Catechetics Program is great and growing.
Endowing a faculty chair in catechetics will expand the number of faculty on staff, enabling us to meet that demand and ensure the long-term quality of the catechetical formation students receive at Franciscan University.
Business Ethics Chair: In today’s fast-paced and competitive economy, the ethical challenges facing businesses and organizations are increasing every day. Accordingly, it is critical that tomorrow’s leaders receive the training they need to take a stand against the disintegration of ethical standards in the workplace and establish new benchmarks for ethical practices.
Through a new endowed chair in business ethics, Franciscan University hopes to draw upon the rich resources of Catholic social teaching to strengthen the ethical training of students in business, communication arts, computer science, and other disciplines. New courses and seminars in this area will complement existing programs, enabling Franciscan University graduates to continue to serve as missionaries in the marketplace. |
