Contributing to the Renaissance
Courage. Conviction. Compassion. Christ. They are what the leaders of today and tomorrow need most. They are what will transform the world. And they are the very things that Franciscan University imparts to its students.Through a combination of rigorous academics and passionate Catholicism, Franciscan University has started a new renaissance in the world of Catholic higher education. It is a renaissance that calls institutions of higher learning to return to their intellectual and spiritual heritage, a renaissance that seeks to renew the Church and the culture.
The sacredness of life, the sanctity of the family, love for the poor, and fidelity to the Church are as integral to this renaissance as free intellectual inquiry and academic excellence. It is a renaissance that is both wholly Catholic and wholly Franciscan. It is a renaissance very much like the renaissance St. Francis of Assisi and his band of brothers helped launch 800 years ago at the beginning of the High Middle Ages.
In the coming years, we firmly believe that by God’s grace, no other institution of higher learning has the potential to do as much for the Church and the culture as Franciscan University. We believe this because we already see it happening. The men and women who have graduated from Franciscan are, right now, living in the world and transforming the world with the love of Christ.
