Campaign Needs

New Residence Halls: $1 Million

As Franciscan University continues to grow in size and prestige, so does our need for more on-campus student housing. This was evident in 2006, when the University sent forth its largest graduating class ever, a class that was 150 students larger than the graduating class in 1996, the year the University began constructing its last new residence hall.

Through the construction of Sts. Elizabeth and Louis Halls, a three-story, 47,000-square-foot brick structure with separate housing wings for men and women, the University will be able to meet that important need and give as many students as possible the opportunity to experience the fullness of our unique campus culture.

In the style of Sts. Kolbe and Clare Residence Halls, male and female students will occupy completely separate housing areas, with a common entryway connecting the halls.
Features of the new halls include:

  • A chapel
  • A “common room” in each wing for student households to gather for social time and prayer
  • Internet and phone access in each room
  • Study lounges
  • Laundry facilities
  • A central area for socializing
  • A kitchenette and adjacent dining room.
The new residence halls will be paid for through a combination of tax exempt bond financing and this capital campaign. One hundred twenty of the 180 new spaces will be filled by students currently living in temporary housing on campus or at Trinity East. Though most beds will be filled by current students, 60 new spaces will allow the University to continue its pace of moderate growth in the near future.
