  • About the Symposium

Is the Catholic university to be a mirror or transformer of the culture? What is the Catholic university’s right relationship to the state? Does a Catholic university have its own distinctive culture? What is the responsibility of a Catholic university toward its surrounding culture?

Join Franciscan University as we address these and other questions about engaging the culture during a symposium honoring the 25th anniversary of Ex corde Ecclesiae, Pope St. John Paul II’s visionary Apostolic Constitution on Catholic Higher Education.

Hosted by Franciscan University President Father Sean O. Sheridan, TOR, JD, JCD, this free symposium is open to all those interested in discovering a path toward fuller incorporation of Ex corde Ecclesiae in the life of Catholic universities.
