STEUBENVILLE, OH—"None of us will ever forget this day," said then-President George W. Bush on the evening of September 11, 2001, "yet we go forward to defend freedom and all that is good and just in our world."
In that spirit, Franciscan University of Steubenville's College Republicans will hold a 9-11 Remembrance on September 11, 2010. The memorial will include 2,977 flags planted in the shape of "9-11" in front of the John Paul II Library, one flag per life lost.
At 6:00 p.m., a student-led Rosary procession will commence at the Marian Grotto on campus, next to the Portiuncula Chapel. The prayer service is open to the public.
"The reason we sponsor this event is because of how easy it is to forget September 11 in the hustle and bustle of our daily lives," said junior Dan Woltornist, president of the College Republicans. "There are so many people, whether those who were injured by the attacks or those who lost a special person, who can't help but remember that tragic day."
